Oak Haus
A modern oasis in the heart of downtown Raleigh.
Wanting to create a light-filled, warm environment, intention was given to how and where elements of contrast were introduced. The home’s palette consists of natural oak, warm whites and lightly veined stone with moments of rich walnut and touches of black. Statement pieces of original artwork and large expanses of glass that frame outside views create focal points throughout the home.

Drawing inspiration from the architecture of the home, the interior has a similarly refined palette. Large windows energize the space, providing dappled light throughout. Medium toned hardwood floors add warmth to white walls and both are accented with touches of warm neutrals, grays and blacks. One of the main features of the home is an open stair that sits next to a double height dining room. Filled with natural light, this space sets the tone for the first floor. The second floor is more private, containing bedrooms, a coffee bar and rec room. The primary suite is designed to feel like a minimal, spa-like retreat.

Drawing inspiration from the exterior of the home, we were drawn to the modern interpretation of classic details. Slate tile and a gently curving handrail provide the warmest welcome to the home. In the center of the home, black custom cabinetry frames a large, white oak island.
